District Hosts Public Opening of Gateway to Technology Lab image District Hosts Public Opening of Gateway to Technology Lab

On Tuesday, January 10th, the Cuyahoga Heights Schools held a special ceremony to introduce the Gateway to Technology Lab to the public. Featuring computers and a 3-dimensional printer, the Gateway to Technology lab promotes science and technology for middle and high school students, and was funded through grants received in the amount of $30,000 by Cuyahoga Valley Career Center and $20,000 by ArcelorMittal. Elected officials from all three villages were in attendance, as well as Summer Paris, Corporate Responsibility and Communications Manager for ArcelorMittal Cleveland. The presentation included opening remarks by Superintendent Tom Evans, followed by a summary of the grants obtained to fund the lab by Director of Administrative Services, Dr. Ted Caleris. High School Principal Matt Young and Instructor Brooke Keller provided an overview of the exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based learning opportunities offered through various lab-based courses. 7th graders Delayne DiSanza, Alexandria Krocker, Nolan Frye, Dominic Belko, Charlie Dalton and Brady Pinter then presented on several projects they completed over the past semester using the state-of-the-art technology and computer programs featured in the lab. The Cuyahoga Heights Schools would like to thank everyone who attended for supporting our students and helping to make the event a success!

Welcome Back Matt Klinger

Cuyahoga Heights Welcomes Back 2001 Graduate Matt Klinger as Guest Speaker

Matt Klinger, a 2001 graduate of Cuyahoga Heights High School received a warm welcome from students and staff as he returned to the district for a special presentation in the South Gym on Wednesday, November 16th. Drawing on his life experiences, including those as a former Cuyahoga Heights student-athlete and his career in the business sector, Matt addressed students from the Middle School and High School on how being committed to doing the “little things” such as hard work, sacrifice and being respectful are critical to achieving one’s definition of success. A two-time state wrestling champion, Matt shared how going the extra mile during training and in practice helped him to achieve success on the mat during his time at Cuyahoga Heights High School.

After graduation, Matt continued his wrestling career at Cleveland State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in in 2006. Shortly after graduation, Matt moved to Boise, Idaho, where he currently resides with his wife and three children. As President of SPL Consulting, Matt seeks to help businesses achieve continued growth by improving sales and marketing efforts, as well as networking with other businesses.
