Art News!! Ms. Witschi and Mr. Shafer are proud to announce that two of our very own have been recognized by Scholastics Art and Writing Awards!  Senior Brandon Sweeney was awarded the prestigious Gold Key award for his ceramics piece and also had an honorable mention award for another one of his ceramics submissions.  Junior Abigael Morrow was awarded an honorable mention for her photo entry titled “Flock”. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the nation’s longest running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition initiative for creative teens.  Over 300,000 works are submitted on the regional level nationally. Regional awards of Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention are all in the Regional Exhibition which will run from January 22nd through February 1st at the Cleveland Institute of Arts Reinberger Gallery.  Gold Key award winners work will be forwarded for the next round of national awards and honors.  Congrats to all those that entered this prestigious and very competitive competition.
 Brandon Sweeney created the cereamic pieces pictured below, the blue piece is titled "Audrey" and is a wheel thrown stoneware with layered glazes which recieved a gold key. The green piece, titled "Moss", was also created by Sweeney and is also a wheel thrown stoneware with layered glazes. "Moss" recieved an honorable mention in the award ceremony. Abigael Morrow photographed the picture below called "Flock". For her work, she recieved honorable mention in photography.  
Congratulations again to both Abigael and Brandon!!

On December 6, 2018, four Cuyahoga Heights High School seniors took a tour of two local Manufacturing facilities: Nook Industries and Charter Steel. The experience was amazing! Daisy Stollings, Noah Mocadlo, Sam Burns and Nick Shainoff were able to tour each facility and speak with industry experts in fields they are interested in pursuing upon graduation.  [ for more]
