Elementary School Library Decorations Spotlight Cleveland Skyline and History
Visitors to the reading area of the Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School library will be impressed to find the room transformed into a celebration of iconic landmarks from Cleveland’s skyline and history.  The mostly cardboard decorations were created by District Librarian Karen Bergen and other staff members, and include prominent buildings such as the Terminal Tower, Federal Building, Key Bank Tower and the Huntington Bank Building.  Other famous re-created Cleveland landmarks include the chandelier that lights up the intersection outside Playhouse Square, Lolly the Trolley, and the iconic script Cleveland sign.   Students are also able to get inside larger cardboard constructions of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Progressive Field!  The reading area is also home to the Indians’ mascot, Slider, albeit a smaller version, which is moved around to a different place each week for students to search for and find.  The school library is an inviting and fun place for students to visit, and features a different theme each school year.  All students (PreK-5) visit the library once each week to work on library skills, research, reading and book selection, as well as collaborate with classroom teachers on various projects. A big-thank you to the staff at Cuyahoga Heights Elementary for helping to create a fun and engaging learning environment for our students!
