Students Showcase Artistic Talents at Spring Show

The annual Spring Art Show held April 19 in the North Gymnasium, celebrated the hard work of students enrolled in art classes at Cuyahoga Heights Middle School/High School.

The entries were judged by the Art Department and district staff members. Patrons were also invited to vote for their favorite artwork on display. 

The following students were recognized for “having the most outstanding and creative work submitted among all the entries this school year,” said art teacher Halle McPherson, who headed coordination of the event. 

Best of show and Popular Artist Award:  

Danielle Mach, Grade 12, “Threads of Beauty'.' To create this piece, Mach arranged the colors and pieces of yarn into a portrait and glued the pieces to a canvas in a technique called “yarn painting’.

First Place: 

Emma Gasper, Grade 8, “Beyond the Glass” (painting)

Second Place: 

Avery Miller, Grade 9, "Octopus Pointillism” (ink drawing)

Third Place: 

Aurora Robinson, Grade 10, “Dragon Eye” (chalk pastel drawing)

Ana Ratkosky, Grade 10, “Lizard Eye” (chalk pastel drawing)
